CU down Mighty Bucks 7-3

Icing a lineup that included two rookies and two AA Midget Stampeder AP"s, CU registered their seecond victory of the season.  Riley "Grin" Morden proved that good defense is offence. Frustrated with feeding his father Pat "Crusher" Morden , the strapping young d man went end to end countless times, recording his first hat trick of the season. Wearing the all to familiar number "19" jersey, the cocky young rearguard  commented post game, "Ya, I wore the jersey, sat in his stall, and scored more pts. in one game than he ever has!" Quick to jump to the defense of his absent partner, Warren "Wheels" Gray reminded the brash youngster, "Well at least Zammer never forgets to bring some fuckin Chips, Hotshot!!"

Brian "Magic Man" Minish, rumored to be celebrating his 57th birthday, turned only one of multiply gifts into a goal.  Skating like a snot nosed rookie, it was evident Minish"s hands had fallen to father time, as the aging veteran failed to capitalize on countless opportunities.

Still searching to regain his scoring touch, legendary forward Jeremy "O.T. Kid" Gray remains at a lost for his recent scoring slump. Former CU standout and current Director of Player Personnel David "Dr. Death" Bettesworth was quick to quell any trade rumors. " Jake has been and will continue to be one of our club's premiere goal scorers. He has scored a lot of huge goals for this organisation, and we expect that to continue. We have not been in negotiations , nor do we intend to be, with any club regarding the availability of Gray!"
Mike "Smitty" Smith proved once again that he has totally recovered from a near career ending knee injury sustained last season, to record his second straight win of the season. Regaining the "lateral mobility" that made him a three time league MVP, Smitty all but shut the door on the Mighty Bucks.

Warren "Wheels' Gray, Pat "Crusher" Morden, and Blaine "Soup" Campbell  rounded out the scoring. The Mighty Bucks have a chance to exact some revenge as the two teams square off this Sunday night at the Corral, puck drop 7:30 pm.

CU win season opener 5-3...

It was exactly one week after fielding an intrasquad lineup of 16 skaters, and CU was facing embarrassment.
In true CU fashion,  10 minutes prior to the home opener vs their cross-town rival Raiders, and a total of six skaters sat in Room #2 celebrating a second beer fridge graciously donated by Wade "Booster" Cable.
Panic subsided  when 3-time tourney all-star Mike "Smitty" Smith phoned to advise he was enroute.  "Booster" decided it was time to enlist an extra body and called son Ryan "Jumper" Cable.  Attempts were made to contact Riley "Feces eating grin" Morden, to no avail.  Moments later an SOS advised Blaine "El Presidente" Campbell would be arriving late (sound familiar? Think Sunday AM vs Raiders at season ending tourney).
The good news was the club had 100% turnout from the 2011 recruiting class with Clayton "Hot & Spicy" Mychalchuk and Darren "Mugsy" Mullin in attendance. The club hit the ice and in his first shift in the "shiny" reds, rookie Clayton Mychalchuk, dented the twine to open the scoring. In classic CU "Rope a Dope" fashion the game  kept seesawing between ties and one goal leads until a two goal lead was earned in the final minutes.
Warren "Wheels" Gray

Despite going  1/11 on breakaways, Warren "Wheels" Gray still managed to pot a Hattie in the season opener. Surprisingly his younger sibling, Jeremy "OT Kid" Gray, couldn't beat Clark with a 16 shot on net performance .
"OT" Kid
Craig "Zdeno" Zamzow rounded out the scoring with a goal from behind the net against former club mate Warren Clark, while overcoming Smitty's screams of quit pinching you dumb "!#@*"
Smitty's newly reconstructed knee courtesy of the $6 Million Dollar Man, was as good as gold, and he pulled out his 384th win for CU while being badly out shot.

CU will look to build on their winning streak on home ice next Wednesday night when the Mighty Bucks come to town donning a new fashionable 3rd jersey!

Team White wins annual Inter squad "3 - 1"...

The White Wall!!!
A strong showing for Team Red from rookies Clayton " Battle of the Blades " Mychalchuk and Darrin "Mugsy" Mullin, still wasn't enough, as Team White turned up the heat when it counted most, and stole a 3-1 win in the annual Red vs White game.
Clayton "Battle of the Blades" Mychalchuk
Perhaps the biggest turnout in recent training camp history, 16 plus skaters skated for a full 60 minutes that saw end to end action. Manning the net for Team Red, coming off the injury reserve list, Mike "Smitty " Smith saw his first action since last February. Fighting some rust and donning a new pair of "Sear's Catalogues", the cagey net minder found his groove late in the session. Not to be over looked , relieve tender Darren "Make mine a Double" Fedorchuk, coming off an impressive 5-1 win over Winnipegosis Hawks in the "B" final at the annual Spring classic, all but shut the door for Team White ,securing the 3-1 victory.
D.H and Zdeno enjoying a "Sizzlin!"
Veteran defense men Craig "Zdeno" Zamzow , posting an impressive - 3, struggled defending Team Red's Blue line. Unconfirmed sources report that the once fleet footed d-man was a frequent customer to a somewhat legendary mobile food cart this past off season. Following a heavy "shoulder first" meeting with the end boards, Kevin "Ribs" Kopecky came off the bench to seal the victory for team White. Training staff have confirmed that Kopecky is being placed on the 15 day injury reserve list with an undisclosed "upper body" injury. CU's home opener is this Wednesday against cross town rivals Swan River Raiders.

Campbell retains "Presidential Office!"

Despite narrowly averting a "presidential coupe " during last year's annual spring tourney, Blaine 'Soup" Campbell retained the club presidency with an overwhelming vote of confidence at the club's AGM. Highlights from the meeting centered around recruitment...
Our illustrious President, asked members for recommendations from the floor for potential recruits. Discussion centred around Derek Holtom’s trade. President Campbell (and Holtom’s former boss Brian Gilroy) both concurred with a suggestion from the floor that it will likely take two new recruits to fill the gaping hole left by the departure of Holtom. After a borderline pathetic whiteboard lobby by one candidate, the club moved into an“In Camera” session to discuss the merits of four potential recruits that had been identified by club members. Motion: To extend club membership offers to Clayton Mychalchuk and Darren Mullin for the 2011-12 season, subject to standard rookie dues. Moved by Rob McDonald, Seconded by Mike Smith.
