16-4 SVCU on a roll....

SVCU continued their offensive onslaught as they skated to a 16-4 victory over Action Old timers. Dana "Hand Cuffs" Harris and Mike "Thrilla" Miller led the way scoring five goals a piece. Harris's tenacious fore check cashed big dividends, as forced turn overs by Action's defense led to numerous tic - tac -toe plays. Rick "Whiskey" Liske Jr. and Rob "Energizer" McDonald kept their goal scoring streaks alive by adding hat tricks , and Warren "Wheels" Gray netted a couple. Following in the foot steps of famous duo sport athletes such as Deon Sanders and Bo Jackson, SVCU blue liner Craig "Zammer" Zamzow, went from the hard wood of the volleyball court , to the ice surface of the coral, and maintained his perfect goal scoring percentage. Choosing to play a more stay at home game, Zamzow made good on his only recorded shot on goal by firing a rocket through the gaping five hole of the Action goal tender. SVCU next sees action on Sunday December 28 with the much anticipated rematch against the Swan River Raiders.

14-2 - SVCU back on track...

Coming off a poor offensive showing the night before, SVCU had no problem finding the back of the net against the Loggers from Minitonas. Leading the way with a hat trick was none other than Rick "Whiskey" Liske Jr. Back in his familiar "Power" forward position, Jr. was all over the ice, reminiscent of Whiskey Sr. in his prime. Scoring, back checking, and chawing, Jr. played the complete game. SVCUs' one - two punch of Mike "Thrilla" Miller and Rob "Energizer" McDonald with Warren "Clarkie" Clark riding shotgun, finished off many tic-tac-toe plays. Mike Smith, although not tested often, enjoyed a relatively quite evening, turning away 8 of the 10 shots that he faced . Warren "Wheels " Gray led all blue liners , bagging three goals and 4-5 helpers. Monday sees the Old Tymer's tilting with Action , and then finishing off the holiday season with their annual Christmas " Skate,Eat,and be Merry", evening.

Outlaws Rock SVCU 10-3...

A 1-0 lead was short lived, as the Valley Outlaws handed SVCU their third loss of the season. Playing in the chilly confines of the Minitonas Arena, the Outlaws took full advantage of the keen ice conditions. Had it not been for the stellar play of SVCU net minder Mike "Smitty" Smith, the game would have been out of reach after the first period. Few bright spots were found in this one - sided affair, however Warren "Clarkie" Clark continued his goal scoring streak by potting 2 of the three SVCU markers. Mike "Moves" Miller, Rob "Stone Hands" McDonald, and Pat "Crash " Morden, were held to just one goal, despite recording a combined 30 + shots on goal. Seeing duty on the blue line for the fist time since Pee Wee, Rick "Whiskey" Liske Jr. was reported to have suffered from severe neck strain. SVCU will have a chance to redeem themselves as they host the Minitonas Loggers Wednesday evening at the Swan Corral.

SVCU comeback to win 10-4...

A one week hiatus in the bush tracking ungulates had little affect on the play of SVCU puck stopper Mike "Smitty" Smith. Spotting LP to an early 4-1 lead, Smith made a huge glove hand save that seemed to give the Old Tymer's a much needed spark. On the ensuing play the soft handed net minder went tape to tape to defense men Craig "Zammer" Zamzow who went end to end giving Smith his first helper of the year. The defensive duo of Warren "Wheels" Gray and Craig "Zammer" Zamzow combined for more than half of SVCU's offensive output, reminiscent of the early Oiler combination of Paul Coffey and Charlie Huddy. Making his SVCU debut, rookie power forward Rick "Whiskey" Liske Jr. was held scoreless, but made his presence felt in front of the oppositions net. Dana "Handcuffs" Harris provided some much needed back checking , playing a solid two way game. Warren "Clarkie" Clark showed the patience of a 50 goal scorer, as he out waited a sprawling LP goal keeper, and made no mistake hitting the top shelve . Rounding out the scoring for SVCU were Jeremy "Jake " Gray, Pat "Crash" Morden, and Rex "Golden Vet" Leach. Next week SVCU is on the road for a tilt with the Outlaws in Minitonas on Tuesday night, and host the Minitonas Logger's Wednesday night.
