An all to familiar story once again saw the SVCU "Magnificent Seven" road crew ,journey south on Hwy #10 to Minitonas to do battle with the SVRSS Tigers. Lead by a six-goal effort by Chris "Iron Lung" Zamzow, the "Magnificent Seven" battled the Tigers tooth and nail. Ferocious fore checking supplied by veterans Barry" Shooter" Eggie and Rex "Golden Vet" Leach resulted in numerous turnovers and scoring opportunities. SVCU lineup was rounded out by Blaine "Soup" Campbell, Derek"Hips" Henkelman, Brian "Barnes"Minish, and Craig "Zammer" Zamzow.
Mike "Smitty" Smith again tended the net competently despite letting three goals in "on the AHL side". Smitty picked up a miraculous assist that would make Marty Turco blush, and followed that up with a beautiful tape-to-tape pass (unfortunately to a Tiger who promptly dented the twine"! ) With the trade dead line behind them, SVCU played a more relaxed, confident hockey game. Next action will be Wednesday night when SVCU hosts cross-town rival Swan River Raiders in their first of back to back games (RCMP Thursday). Will this heavy schedule pay divdends down the road come Tourney time ? ??? SVCU may just be banking on it!
